Festool Cordless plunge-cut saw TSC 55 KEB-Basic
- Order number: FES576712
- Model: TSC 55 KEB-Basic
Our masterpiece. Decisively improved. Now with unique kickback stop.
Often, even just a millisecond is crucial: The kickback is the most common cause of serious injuries when using a plunge-cut saw. Our unique kickback stop therefore stops the saw blade of our cordless plunge-cut saw in the blink of an eye, and so not only protects your workpiece but also minimises the risk of injury to your hands. In addition, this now allows users to make powerful, precise cuts at up to twice the speed with an extended battery range. When combined, our new generation of saw blades allows for maximum cutting performance and perfect cutting quality. The sawing system is rounded off with clever system accessories, such as guide rails, an angle stop, splinter guard and saw table.

- The current official Festool article number for this model is 578738.
- This is the Basic version and is supplied without battery packs and charger.

- The KickbackStop can be manually deactivated for specific cuts where required, and is automatically reactivated the next time the saw is switched on.
Pro Tips
- Use two compatible 18 V battery packs when maximum power and cutting speed are required.
- Use one battery pack only when reduced weight is more important than maximum power.
- Always match the blade to the material. A sharp, correct blade is the difference between a clean cut and a bad day with splinters.
- Use the guide rail and splinterguard when cutting laminated boards or visible panels to reduce tear-out.
- Connect a dust extractor when cutting indoors or when working with MDF, chipboard or coated panels.
- When making plunge cuts, start with full control and allow the saw to enter the material smoothly without forcing it.
How to Use
- Select the correct 160 mm saw blade for the material being cut.
- Remove the battery packs before fitting or changing the saw blade.
- Use the FastFix system to fit the saw blade securely.
- Insert one or two compatible Festool 18 V battery packs depending on the required power and working setup.
- Set the cutting depth according to the workpiece thickness and whether a guide rail is being used.
- Set the required cutting angle between -1° and 47° if bevel or undercut work is needed.
- Place the guide rail on the marked line and clamp it where necessary.
- Connect the chip collection bag or a suitable Festool dust extractor.
- Set the speed according to the blade and material.
- Place the saw on the guide rail, start the motor and guide the saw steadily through the cut.
- Allow the blade to stop completely before lifting the saw away or setting it down.
