Extra Information

  • Confirm that the spark plug has a compatible 21mm hex size before use.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before removing or installing spark plugs.
  • Clean loose dirt and debris from around the spark plug before removal.
  • Keep the socket straight and correctly aligned to avoid damaging the spark plug or cylinder-head threads.
  • Start replacement spark plugs by hand before applying final tightening torque.
  • Always follow the engine or spark plug manufacturer&s torque specification.

Pro Tips

  • Use a suitable extension bar where the spark plug sits deep inside the cylinder head.
  • Loosen the spark plug gradually while keeping the socket aligned with the plug.

How to Use

  • Switch off the engine and allow it to cool completely.
  • Disconnect the spark plug lead or ignition coil according to the engine manufacturer&s procedure.
  • Clean loose dirt and debris from around the spark plug opening.
  • Attach the 21mm spark plug socket to a compatible 3/8" drive extension and ratchet.
  • Lower the socket straight onto the spark plug until it is fully seated.
  • Turn anti-clockwise using steady pressure to loosen and remove the spark plug.
  • When installing a replacement, thread the spark plug in by hand first.
  • Tighten the spark plug to the manufacturer&s specified torque using a suitable torque wrench.
  • Remove the socket carefully and reconnect the spark plug lead or ignition coil.

Safety

  • Switch off the engine and allow it to cool completely before beginning work.
  • Wear suitable eye protection when servicing engines and mechanical equipment.
  • Use the correct spark plug socket size to avoid slipping or damaging the spark plug.
  • Keep the socket straight and fully seated while loosening or tightening the plug.
  • Do not overtighten spark plugs, as this may damage the plug or cylinder-head threads.
  • Do not use damaged, cracked or excessively worn sockets.
  • Do not use the socket as a punch, pry tool, chisel or lever.
  • Follow the engine manufacturer&s servicing and torque instructions at all times.
