• Unplug the bench grinder from the power supply.
• Remove the side cover to gain access to the flange washers.
• Remove the flange washers by locking the axle on either side and loosening the hex nuts.
• Fit the reducing bushes if required on the wire wheel and mount on the spindle.
• Fit wire wheel on spindle and tighten properly.

Safety

• Wear eye, ear and dust protection when using the wire wheel — metal particles, rust, scale and old paint flakes can be ejected at high speed.
• Ensure the wheel brush is securely and correctly mounted before starting the grinder — check arbor size and wheel guard alignment.
• Use moderate pressure only — excessive force can cause surface damage or rapid wire wear.
• Keep hands, loose clothing, jewellery and hair clear of the rotating brush at all times.
• Operate in a well-ventilated area or use dust extraction when removing rust, paint or coatings to avoid inhalation of metal dust or paint particles.
• Inspect the brush before each use — discard if bristles are excessively worn, bent or broken to avoid safety hazards and ensure effective cleaning.
